What Brussels showed me..
contrast and integration..
I have been recently to Brussels.
Besides its position in the European union and the importance of this city politically, the city has demonstrated to me βContrastβ and βIntegrationβ.
The old and the new. Past and present, situated very good together.
Living a conscious life force us to contemplate our life experiences in a different way. When I landed from the plane the question popped to my mind: what am I to learn from you Brussels in this short stay? and the city answered me.
It made me realise how can the old and the new fit perfectly in the same place.
When we take a fierce path towards our healing and our internal journey, in the beginning the past seems so daunting and to some degree so scary even; and maybe a tendency to escape it or to run away from it merges in our hearts, bodies and mind. When this happens it is very important to follow this urge because it is always an urgent necessity to follow what each stage of our lives requires from us.
But little by little, we can come to notice that the past has formed us, has shaped us, and has taught us a lot of lessons. We come to accept the past then love it and love everything that we passed through whether negative or positive. Then integration happens in an amazing magical way and something big is constructed between the old and the new. Just like Brussels.
Those beautiful old buildings merged totally with those tall towers of buildings. It is just a total state of the best painted picture that life can give.
So maybe it is ok to let our past versions accompany us in the new life we are building, but only if we are done with grieving related to our past versions.
Lots of love.
